PACMAN – Assessment and Management of polar PACs in contaminated soils and remedial processes

Programme: SNOWMAN
Research period: ongoing
Key question / Key goal: The objectives of this project are to assess to what extend the compounds belonging to the group polar PACs (e.g. oxy-PAHs and azaarenes) involve additional risk at PAH-contaminated sites, and also to find ways to manage and reduce this potential risk
Kind of study: desk study, field and laboratory
Keywords: polar PACs, remediation processes, data collection, sampling and monitoring, experimental study

Research question(s):
Fill the gaps in knowledge about important parameters in risk assessment models (human and ecotoxicology of pollutants, physical/chemical data, abundance/behaviour of exposed organisms, etc.)
